Lindsay Gill, PhD Appointed Foundation’s Research Director

The APBD Research Foundation is delighted to announce that Lindsay Gill, PhD has been promoted to full-time Research Director.

Since joining the Foundation, in the part-time position of Research Manager in 2025, Dr. Gill has led its mission-driven work, focusing on research strategy, fostering scientific collaborations, and serving as a key ambassador for the community. In addition, she launched a number of new research initiatives, including the APBDRF BioBank, the Drug Repurposing Program, and the Clinical Trial Readiness Survey, among others.

“In this capacity-building role, Dr. Gill will continue to lead the Foundation’s research initiatives, strengthen scientific engagement, and expand its network of research, clinical, and industry partners. Building on the Foundation’s early accomplishments and further advancing its research programs will be essential as we work collaboratively with patients and research partners to accelerate the development of treatments and make them a reality,” stated Jeff Levenson, DDS, the Foundation’s Co-President. 

Dr. Gill holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Washington and Jefferson College and a Doctorate degree in Neuroscience from the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Before joining the Foundation in 2025, she worked as a neuroscientist with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, (a branch of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). She has been involved in projects related to rare congenital blindness, virus-associated susceptibility to seizures, sickness behavior, mild traumatic brain injury, Gulf War Illness, exposure-driven brain inflammation and neurodegeneration, as well as uncovering the impacts of chronic stress on neurological disease. She has 20 years of experience working with multi-disciplinary teams involving basic scientists, clinicians, epidemiologists, computational biologists, and patient advocates. 

Natacha Pires, MS, MBBS, the Foundation’s Executive Director, added, “Dr. Gill is well positioned to drive our high-impact collaborative research strategy. Her depth of experience is a core strength that enables her to meet the evolving and expanding needs of our team, our research programs, and our community.”

In her free time, Dr. Gill enjoys reading, playing board games, spending time with her family, and perfecting her pizza recipe. She also volunteers as a Den Leader with her local Cub Scout pack.
